Note from Scott McCully

At Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools, we lead by example—through both our words and our actions. Our mission is to create an innovative, inclusive, and student-centered environment that empowers every learner to thrive. To achieve that, each of us plays a vital role in upholding our values, holding ourselves and others accountable, and speaking up when something doesn’t align with who we are or what we stand for.

Open, respectful communication is key to our success. Whether you're raising a question or voicing a concern, we encourage you to use our district-embedded resources such as your supervisor, faculty advisory council (FAC), Human Capital Partner, Employee Relations (ER), Title IX team or Let's Talk app.

We also understand that some conversations can be challenging. That’s why we offer the CMS Speak-Up Line—a safe, confidential way to share concerns when direct communication isn’t possible. Speaking up at CMS isn’t just encouraged—it’s expected. And thanks to our statement of non-retaliation, anyone who raises a concern in good faith is protected.

This site is maintained by a third-party company for the purpose of gathering information regarding compliance and ethics concerns as they relate to CMS Board Policy, Federal laws and state statutes..

You may also report compliance concerns by calling the Speak-Up Line at 877-785-0004, which is available in English and many other languages for ease of reporting.

This toll-free number is staffed by live operators 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

If you need to follow up up on an already submitted report click the Follow-Up menu at the top of the page. Together, let’s build a culture of integrity, trust, and continuous improvement.
